Recipe for Gripe Water


If there is an emergency or you would simply like to concoct your very own gripe water for your baby, if you have the right ingredients in your cupboard you can make it at home. The gripe water ingredients that you need to make it at home are as follows.


1 teaspoon fennel seeds


1 teaspoon dill seeds


6 cups water


Crush the fennel seeds in a mortar and pestle until you have a coarse powder. Do the same with dill seeds. Boil water in a pan and add the crushed dill seeds and fennel seeds. Cover the pan with a lid and let the water reduce to half. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool down. Strain the homemade gripe water and store in the refrigerator. You can add a tablespoon of sugar to the mixture to make the gripe water more palatable.
